Crusade of Hate Lead by American Christian Radicals to Blame for Anti-LGBT Laws

Remember these guys?

Scott Lively, Caleb Brundidge, Don Schmierer, Rick Warren, Lou Engle, Richard Cohen, Uganda, Hate, Homosexuality

(from left to right) Scott Lively of Abiding Truth Ministries, “Ex-gay counselor” Caleb Brundidge and Don Schmierer from Exodus International, Richard Cohen, who’s book Coming Our Straight was used in Uganda as proof homosexuality is a choice, Pastor Rick Warren of the California based Saddleback mega church and Lou Engel of revival group The Call.

Imagine what would happen if people like us were forced to hide in our homes for fear of being arrested, beaten or killed for simply trying to live our lives.

Well, in Uganda today our LGBT brothers and sisters are in hiding and living in fear for their lives because of a successful campaign of hate with roots right here in America.

These men (pictured left) and other Americans created a firestorm of hate that has led to the creation of the Uganda Anti-Homosexuality Bill that was signed into law on Feb. 24, 2014.

Under the new law, any Ugandan convicted of “Aggravated Homosexuality” will spend their life in prison, that is if they are not beaten or killed by angry mobs first.

In a revealing development, Scott Lively, who helped write the bill and lobbied members of the Ugandan Parliament against the evils of homosexuality, was ordered by a US Federal judge to stand trial for crimes against humanity.

Just think what would happen if people like Scott Lively, and his ardent supporter Bryan Fischer, were forced to hide in their homes in fear of being arrested, beaten or even killed for their freely chosen religious beliefs? Their desperate cries for help would surely be a constant drumbeat in their FOX News and hate group echo chambers.

Before the bill was signed into law, a government spokesperson said the President wanted “to demonstrate Uganda’s independence in the face of Western pressure and provocation.”

It was precisely “pressure and provocation” from American religious extremist’s that got us here in the first place!

In America the long struggle for LGBT rights is not over, our country is on the right path toward securing equality for many of us in the years ahead. We in the United State are relatively safe. The same cannot be said for our Ugandan friends who are really suffering.

Please help LGBT Ugandans escape the terror of this witch hunt.

For just the cost of one meal out at your favorite restaurant, you can provide meaningful help.

SO PLEASE find it in your hearts to contribute $5, $10, $25, $50 or more to the Ugandan LGBT Activist Refugee Fund.

As our Ugandan brother’s and sister’s wait and watch your donations to come in, just think of the much needed strength and hope you will be giving them to fight another day.

Bryan Fischer Can Dish It Out, But He Can’t Take It

Bryan Fischer, American Family Association, The New Yorker, Jane Mayer
Jane Mayer was on “UP with Chris Hayes” yesterday talking about her latest article in The New Yorker The Voter Fraud Myth.

Watching her with Hayes, took me back to last May when Mayer, having read the piece I co-authored last year for the Southern Poverty Law Center about Bryan Fischer, called me for some insight and additional information on what I knew about Fischer’s activities when he was in Idaho. THE FISCHER FILES – Gay-basher Bryan Fischer is famous for his bigotry. What’s less known is how ‘mainstream Idahoans jump-started his career By Jody May-Chang and Jill Kuraitis for the Southern Poverty law Center’s Winter 2011 Intelligence Report
“…Things were coming to a head at Community Church of the Valley. Mansfield, who had helped get the church started, said that church elders “had a meeting about conflict with Bryan over who had the final say in the church.” Fischer insisted that he did, but Mansfield said it was actually the board…”

Bryan Fischer: From jilted Idaho pastor to AFA’s propagandist-in-chief

Special to the online edition of Windy City Times by Jody May-Chang Nov. 9, 2011 Bryan Fischer’s departure from Idaho in the summer of 2009 was cause for celebration among progressives and conservatives alike throughout our small red state. After 29 years of bigotry, hate and racism, Fischer was finally gone! Out-of-state when Fischer made the announcement he would be leaving Idaho, I was tending to my seriously ill 74-year-old mother. Sitting by her bedside in a California hospital room, exhausted, grateful and relieved Mom had just made it through surgery, I got the call. Idaho Press-Tribune reporter Mike Butts wanted a comment in reaction to the big news. Stunned, all I could think of to say was, “Great for Idaho! Too bad for Mississippi!” I told mom the news. In her groggy, post anesthesia haze she whispered, “Good riddance to that bastard!” Continue reading

Bryan Fischer’s REAL Views on Mormonism

Although Fischer never directly called Mormonism a “cult,” he has inferred it by the many other things he has said. The Fischer Files Report reveals the AFA radio host’s hypocrisy with an excerpt from a 2005 sermon when he was pastor of Community Church of the Valley. From the pulpit Bryan Fischer tells his flock exactly how he views the faith of his “friends” in the LDS Church.
