Although Fischer never directly called Mormonism a “cult,” he has inferred it by the many other things he has said.
The Fischer Files Report reveals the AFA radio host’s hypocrisy with an excerpt from a 2005 sermon when he was pastor of Community Church of the Valley. From the pulpit Bryan Fischer tells his flock exactly how he views the faith of his “friends” in the LDS Church.
The Propagandist is an in-depth investigative piece about Fischer’s history in Idaho written for the Southern Poverty Law Center by Idaho journalists Jody May-Chang and Jill Kuraitis, both of whom have closely followed Fischer’s activities for many years. The article is included in a 23-page report issued by the SPLC Oct. 10, 2011
Oct 14, 2011 May-Chang discusses Fischer and the SPLC Report on Fox talk radio KLIX 1310, Twin Falls Idaho.

All traces of Bryan Fischer have been wiped clean from the Idaho Values Alliance website in preparation for Friday’s re-launch of IVA under new president—and abstinence education consultant—Gary N. Brown.
On the website sourceministires.net, Brown wrote, “I am known across America as the nation’s Abstinence Pastor, impacting abstinence and marriage-education legislation and policy on every level of government. I have been able to gain the trust of senators and House members, alike.â€
Brown told Citydesk he first met Fischer, who left IVA in 2009 for Mississippi-based American Family Association, when he moved to the Idaho panhandle from Atlanta two years ago. Brown left his position as pastor of Coeur d’Alene’s NorthStar Church after 10 months to helm the IVA, saying that he found work like that of IVA’s a better fit for him.
As head of IVA and during his time with AFA, Fischer has been a polarizing figure. Citydesk asked Brown if he shared Fisher’s stance on homosexuality and Islam.
“I am very well aware of some of Bryan Fischer’s positions on issues, and to be honest, I would rather not go there,†he said. “In the future we will have to address issues like that. I mean my goodness, it is a hot button topic … I don’t want any particular issue to take the headlines today.†Continue reading →
Bryan Fischer is well-known in Idaho. To some he is a hero of “family values,” but to many he is a living, breathing example of what is wrong with America. Fischer is the pitchman for contempt and the poster boy for intolerance. The man’s obsession with and hatred of homosexuals is well documented, but recently he has been gaining national attention.
Fischer’s visceral scorn for gays was rarely, if ever, challenged by the Idaho news media that ran to him for a quote as if he was the anointed representative of all that is Christian in Idaho. He was essentially considered a “balanced” voice to oppose gays in Idaho.
Fischer is now climbing into the national spotlight to brand homosexuals and others who don’t fit into his narrow view of the world as threats that should be locked up or perhaps even executed. This past year, he was hoisted into the national spotlight when he was included in MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann’s Worst Person segment for his xenophobic rant that called on banning Muslims from the serving in the U.S. military following the Fort Hood tragedy.
More recently Fischer has been calling for the national criminalization of homosexuality, comparing gays to everything from IV drug users to murderers. This fact was brought out by Fox News’s Alan Colmes who called out Bryan Fischer on is daily radio show.
Colmes did what no reporter or editor in Idaho had the common sense, guts, or journalistic integrity to do when it came to Bryan Fischer – Colmes held him accountable for his words and pressed him with hard questions! Continue reading →
In Keith Olbermann’s famous Worst Persons segment tonight the bronze was awarded to Worst’s regular gas bag Rush Limbaugh for trying to blame President Obama for Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan killing 13 and wounding 30 at the Fort Hood tragedy last week.
Then much to my delight, my favorite news man slams the former Idaho Values Alliance Executive Director and bigoted, homophobic, fraud, Bryan Fischer. (left)
“This is Dr. Hassan’s fault,” says Olbermann, “the rest of the world was trying to be patient enough to find out what the hell Hassan thought his motives were, and then try him in court, but not this idiot Limbaugh or these knee jerk racists like Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association who called for a purge of Muslims from the US military. They are busily trying for the Jack Ruby route.”
If you really want to know what kind of a wing-nut Bryan Fischer really is, below is a suggested reading list. My buddy H. Lukas Green and I regularly exposed this lying fraud over the last few years on our other news site PrideDEPOT.com.
Bryan Fischer & The Idaho Values Alliance
As Executive Director of the Idaho Values Alliance’s (IVA), Bryan Fischer, used IVA as a platform to spread lies, bullying and spew anti-gay propaganda to influence memebers of the Idaho State Legislature, Idaho Law and the public on legitimate LGBT civil rights issues. This teabagger, regularly calls LGBT people Nazis, fascists, child molesters and believes hate crime legislation protecting LGBT people from violence would actually protect pedophiles.
It should come as no surprise that Bryan Fischer, executive director of the non-profit “organization,” Idaho Values Alliance, which consists only of himself, is once again being reckless with the facts.
Fischer’s desperate attacks against LGBT people are practically a daily obsession that could easily be dismissed as ridiculous were it not for his malicious tone.
He is Idaho’s front man for the anti-gay industry and he is betting the farm that his lemming-like followers will keep coughing up cash so he can continue his operation of sewing the seeds of fear and loathing.
The economic recession has had an adverse impact on nearly every sector of the American economy except for one; the growing anti-gay industry lead by self-proclaimed Christian leaders who sell fear and contempt inside a package called “family values.”
Idaho’s chief CEO of lies and misinformation about LGBT citizens is none other than Bryan Fischer, the pitchman for the so-called Idaho Values Alliance. Fischer’s talent for garnering easy access to the Idaho news media to sell his poisonous product rivals any Wall Street crook with a Ponzi scheme designed to separate grand mom from her life savings.
Except that in this case, Fischer’s game is to separate citizens he loathes from their rights as equal citizens under the law by promoting stereotypes that illicit fear and hate through a marketing plan crafted by far right extremists whose vision of America and the world is limited to their own narrow-minded ideology.
An Idaho anti-gay propagandist is crowing success on his non-profit political website about how his intervention with a local Hallmark card shop owner lead to a decision not to sell same-sex greeting cards.
The head of the so-called Idaho Values Alliance was apparently set to call for a boycott of the seven Jordan Hallmark stores owned by Philip R. Johnson, until the man disclosed that he had no intention of selling the cards. However, he said he would special order them upon request.
Johnson said his business decision was based on controversial news coverage and the cartoon-like drawing showing two tuxedos side-by-side that appear to be joined at the wrist. He said would not have stocked the cards simply based on the cartoon image and the related news coverage, regardless of being contacted by Bryan Fischer, IVA executive director.
